Esk River Improvement Group (ERIG)

The first meeting of the Esk River Improvement Group (ERIG) convened by Colin Beattie MSP will be on Thursday 6th August 2020. The meeting will include updates from the Coal Authority, Forth Rivers Trust, East Lothian Council, Midlothian Council, Scottish Water and SEPA. Other input will then be invited from attendees and the group’s aspirations, approach, purpose and outcomes will be set. Next steps will be decided. The group is likely to meet quarterly. Eskbank and Newbattle Community Council will be represented at the meeting by Joy Godfrey.

ENCC’s starting position is that Scotland is a country just as capable as Continental Europe of maintaining ‘bathing water status’ cleanliness standards for our rivers – whether or not we are in the EU. We need to use and enable everyone’s skills and investment in a positive outcome for the river.

If you would like to raise points on any matters including the aspirations, approach, purpose and outcomes of the group please contact Joy Godfrey on joy.h.godfrey@gmail.com Updates from the group meetings will be posted on ENCC’s website.
